STYLED
A zine to celebrate and dissect the meaning and development of personal style. Researched, interviewed, designed, art directed and shot by me.
When I look at my own personal style, I am forever curious about why I am attracted to a certain type of shoe, or why I decide to go with the pair of orange corduroy overalls, rather than a romantic long billowy white chiffon dress. Some days I feel like a Parisian brat making my way to the café while smoking a cigarette desperately in need of my morning shot of espresso. Other days, the strong feminist independent woman side of me takes the reigns and all I want to wear is non-gender-conforming Oxford button-down, with every button buttoned up to my neck. To say the least, humans are not simple. We are influenced by and made up of many different characters and characteristics, any one or more of which can be easily represented vis-à-vis our appearance, our expressiveness, our self-proclaimed fashion trend. Personal style is an amalgamation of who we are, how we perceive ourselves, and how we wish to be perceived by others.
